Who We Are
Step Entrepreneurship and Community Development Initiative (SECDI) is a transformative, people-centered organization dedicated to strengthening the capacity of NGOs, empowering communities, and advancing sustainable socio-economic development across Nigeria. We believe that true progress is achieved when communities are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and networks they need to thrive. Our work is rooted in the conviction that collaboration, innovation, and accountability are the cornerstones of lasting impact.
Since our inception, SECDI has positioned itself as a catalyst for change by bridging the gap between grassroots organizations and national development agendas. We have successfully trained and mentored dozens of NGOs across Nigeria, enabling them to access funding, improve governance structures, and deliver community-driven solutions. Our initiatives have promoted gender inclusion, supported women and youth entrepreneurship, and provided scholarships to vulnerable children, ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward sustainable growth.
Through innovative programs such as the Annual STEM Project for Girls, we have introduced young women to coding, robotics, and digital creativity, while connecting them with mentors who inspire them to pursue careers in science and technology. Our entrepreneurship training programs have empowered women and youth in communities like Abaji, Bwari, Kwali, Kwara State, and Minna Niger State, equipping them with business skills and access to micro-grants that foster economic independence.
SECDI is not just an organization; it is a movement for collective action. By organizing landmark events such as the Kogi State Entrepreneurship and NGO Summit, and now the National NGO Conference 2026, we create platforms where civil society actors, government stakeholders, and development partners can exchange ideas, build partnerships, and chart actionable pathways for national development. These gatherings amplify grassroots voices, influence policy, and strengthen the role of NGOs in driving accountability and social equity.
